My official 1st Blog back!

It’s my first real day back in SL.  It was a very long and extended vacation.  Many months for personal reasons that I’d rather not discuss on my blog, and also due to computer problems.  While I missed all of my friends and all the fashion; I am very grateful for the time I had away from SL.   I had the opportunity truly treasure the “real world” again, and I’ve had so many new experiences that I am forever thankful for.  While I wanted to continue my blog, I have also made a promise to myself that I will not allow my blog, or any other SL ventures ever become more important than all the treasures of my real life again. 

I’ve also decided to do my blog, my way.  I’m no longer going to worry about critics or editors or any other fashion icon in SL tell me what I should or shouldn’t do or how I should or shouldn’t do it.  What you see is what you get.  It’s a reflection of my own personal style, and my own unique mood that I may have at that time.

(Geez.. that was rather long and personal… Now on to the style!)

I wore a combination of old and new today.  And hopefully you’ll be seeing a difference in my approach to blog photos.  I’ve spent the past few months focusing on my photography in real life, so I’m hoping you see a little bit of reflection of that while looking at my fashion blog.

Site Changes – Calling All Photographers!

 

With the closing of Fashionphiles, I have decided to add some of the feature posts that I wrote on that site to this site as well.  And, after an experiment this week, I’ve decided to do something completely different than any other blog that I know of.

So, from here on out you can see the following pieces on GumboGlam.

1. Who Designed it Better/Who Wore it Better – For those that didn’t read these.  Who designed it better was when I took 2 designers similar designs and opened a vote of which was best.  Who Wore it Better was the same concept of open vote but it was myself and Lourdes accessorizing the heck out of the same outfit.  Both featured blogs were super fun to write and participate in and I don’t want to lose them.

2. The Countdown – I haven’t forgotten about my countdown of favorite things.  I have 5 left to write.  These have been very popular, and I will make it all the way to my #1 favorite thing in SL

3. Guest Photographers *New* – I experimented this week with Guest Photographers, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.  So, I’m opening the opportunity for any SL photographer with interest.  I’ve long felt that the fashion industry is so much more than just the clothing, and the photography plays a HUGE part.  What I’m doing is allowing a photographer to shoot my style of the day, edit to their photographic preference, and then I use those pictures for this blog.  The photographer gets exposure on Gumbo Glam, The Fashion Feeds, Flickr, & Plurk.  It’s a greatchance to build your portfolio and clients.  This is not just open for established photographers, I want to give upcoming photographers a chance to show off their talent.  If you are interested, please leave a comment or IM me in world.

I cannot express how excited I was when I received the new skins from Kuja Akina.  I actually received these a few days ago.. and have been waiting rather impatiently to post all the hair fair blogs so I could finally post about my favorite skins in the world.

Kuja has an amazing ability to create so many different personalities within her skins.  Yes, I said personality within skin.  If you don’t believe that statement, then look at the pictures above.  I can transform into everything from shy and demure, glamourous, wicked, au natural, posh, and even a little bit of crazy.  

I always feel when I wear these skins, I truly set myself apart from everyone else in SL.  In a world of all beautiful people, sometimes it’s really nice to stand out in a crowd.  And, speaking 100% truthfully.. it’s always good fun to make some heads turn 🙂 

As amazing as all these skins are, Kuja has even gone a step farther by creating a wet skin.  Although, I have not shown them here, I must say they are perfect for all those photo shoots in your sexiest bikini by the beach.

A Breath of Fresh Air in a World of Fashion

 

I know the world can never have enough hair, but I had to take some of my day today and participate in a little full fledged, total body fashion.  I attended the EIMA Spring Fling  Fashion Show, and while all the models were beautiful.  I also fell in love with the outfit that I was wearing and decided to blog it.  I hope all the readers enjoy a little break from hair as much as I have, it was a little breath of fresh air.   I’ll be back to my full hair blogging self tonight/tomorrow.  Stay Tuned! 🙂
