I’m Back And Blogging

After a longer vacation from blogging than intended, I decided to start back up.  I decided to dress up in something that would be perfect for a business luncheon, social or a meet & greet.  The outfit is perfect to the new Sugar which is all about work, work, work.  As usual, the colors I chose are black and white  and I decided to do a mix of old and new.   My favorite new piece in this outfit is the necklace from LaGyo.  Gyorgyna is amazingly talented and I am always completely honored to wear her pieces.

Work and Play

 Just a little bit of newness to share with this outfit. (Warning this is a quick post after a LONG weekend)  The first thing I’m going to mention are the amazing Bax Coen Prestige Boots.  Bax never fails to dissapoint I went forever without taking off my ankle boots upon their release, and it looks like I’ve got some knee high boots to wear for days on end.  Not only are the textures and fit amazing, but I am always unbelievably impressed with the work that goes into the scripting of Bax’s objects making them completely versatile and unique to each owner.  I had to buy both colors offered in both Black and White as I stood in the store completely unable to decide.

 

New from Chikka Designs is the lovely leather jacket.  Which for once I chose in a color other than Black or Grey, and I decided with purple.  I’m so thrilled with my choice.  I love this jacket.  And it’s definately fun to add a little color to my wardrobe.   I feel so “I’m a business woman that just got off of work and now I’m ready to hit the town and have fun!”

Discover Your Skin – Nikita Fride Interview

Today I want to introduce you to a skin designer that you might not have had the chance to meet.  Her name is Nikita Fride, and her store is titled the same.  Nikita Fride is a makeup artist, creating skins with an emphasis on different makeups.  She was the first designer to create skins based on a real cat’s face photo, male skin with lapel kiss,  and diamond drops in skin.  While her skins range from the most sinister and bruised skin with cuts, to the most perfect angel makeup; I decided to show off some of the more “fashion friendly” skins that she has to offer.

Discover Your Skin – UK Couture

For the second installment of my “Discover Your Skin” coverage I had the chance to speak with Corbantis Priestman of UK Couture.  Corbantis will be showing all of her new/recently finished skins at this years event.  Before I begin with my conversation with her, here is a sneak peek of what you can see and buy. 

Corbantis has created shapes for the skins designed.  To show off the skin, I wanted to do something a little different and I have shown the skin in 2 versions. 1- On my shape, since that is what my readers are accustomed to seeing and 2 – On the shape provided by Corbantis for the skins.

 

SugarKane: Why did you first join SL?
Corbantis: A friend told me what a wonderfully creative environment it was…so I decided to check it out for myself….

SugarKane: How long have you been designing skins in SL?
Corbantis: Nearly three years and loving every minute of it!

Good Evening Readers!  I am back after a very very long week of work in RL, and I wanted to feature a blog open to voting since I haven’t done one of these in quite some time.   I realize the two styles I’ve chosen to compare are not exact and there are many differences, but I do think there are enough similarities to host on “Who designed it better.”

 

 

 

 

If you remember my “Who Designed it Better Post from Hair Fair” on Fashionphiles then you will know what I’m about to say, but for those readers that did not get to see that post; I will say that I love each of these dresses equally and for different reasons.  This is merely a fun way to open a discussion on style.  Let the voting begin, and enjoy. I give you the LeLutka – Paras Dress and the Whippet & Buck – Haver Tiered Frock.  Both are lovely little ruffled mini dresses and both sleeveless and perfect for our summer weather.

SugarKane goes to the Club!

An entirely different look for me, you all know how I just love playing around with me looks.  Lots of new goodies in this outfit!  First off the hair.  Glorious newness from Vanity Hair by Tabata Jewell.  I love Vanity Hair.  Tabata has an amazing gift for capturing movement in her hair, and I’m never dissapointed.  Vanity Hair definately makes heads turn towards you.  I experimented with a much different and darker skin tone because I am still just obsessed with these new Chaisuki skins.  Beautiful!   These lovely poses are not yet released, and are part of  a project that my very favorite pose designer is working on.  I’ll be showing you more of these and letting you in on who made them as these are developed. 🙂

Sugar by the Sunset

I swore earlier this week I would buy no more swimsuits, but I haphazardly ran into a new store I had not yet seen –  Euphoria, and found myself making a purchase (And of course, it was of a swimsuit)  What can I say, I’m just a sucker for polka dots.  I really fell in love with this 50s inspired style.  Check out that full bottom around my bottom 😉  And, in case you haven’t noticed…I have fallen in love with a new skin line from Chaisuki.  Just beautiful shading.

Back to Work!

Site Changes – Calling All Photographers!

 

With the closing of Fashionphiles, I have decided to add some of the feature posts that I wrote on that site to this site as well.  And, after an experiment this week, I’ve decided to do something completely different than any other blog that I know of.

So, from here on out you can see the following pieces on GumboGlam.

1. Who Designed it Better/Who Wore it Better – For those that didn’t read these.  Who designed it better was when I took 2 designers similar designs and opened a vote of which was best.  Who Wore it Better was the same concept of open vote but it was myself and Lourdes accessorizing the heck out of the same outfit.  Both featured blogs were super fun to write and participate in and I don’t want to lose them.

2. The Countdown – I haven’t forgotten about my countdown of favorite things.  I have 5 left to write.  These have been very popular, and I will make it all the way to my #1 favorite thing in SL

3. Guest Photographers *New* – I experimented this week with Guest Photographers, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.  So, I’m opening the opportunity for any SL photographer with interest.  I’ve long felt that the fashion industry is so much more than just the clothing, and the photography plays a HUGE part.  What I’m doing is allowing a photographer to shoot my style of the day, edit to their photographic preference, and then I use those pictures for this blog.  The photographer gets exposure on Gumbo Glam, The Fashion Feeds, Flickr, & Plurk.  It’s a greatchance to build your portfolio and clients.  This is not just open for established photographers, I want to give upcoming photographers a chance to show off their talent.  If you are interested, please leave a comment or IM me in world.
